2013-03-02 - New database server

We have been making improvements to the web server lately to make it more efficient among other things but it has still been straining the resources. While the web server is a large system (16GB RAM, 8 cores, 3GHz, 1TB disk) it was running two very heavy services, web and user databases.

In order to further improve our system we have installed a second server just as powerful and have moved the user databases over to it making both services much faster. You should be seeing a marked improvement on your web sites, especially if they are database backed.

If you have been following our database setup instructions there should be no problems with your sites. If you are seeing problems with your site or your database access, please check that you are connecting to the host "userdb.Vex.Net" and not "localhost or something else.

This finishes the user facing, ISP service upgrades. We hope that you find the results worth any glitches we may have had over the last few days.
